Outlook 07 - does not recognize .docx in attachments

With Office 2007 I thought to uninstall the compatibility pack for 2007 from when we had Office 2003. But for some reason that created a problem...in Outlook when an email has an attachment of .docx or .xlsx, when I click on the attachment it prompts, that the file is unrecognizable and asks which program you would like to open it with.

Why is it doing that when I've got Office 2007 on the computer? Did something with the Compatibility Pack mess things up? And how can I go about resolving this?

If you removed it after installing Office 2007, yes. Do a repair/reinstall
on Office or manually re-associate the Office 2007 extensions with their
programs accordingly.

I was able to do a repair and it worked fine.

If you removed it after installing Office 2007, yes. Do a repair/reinstall
