Forgive me if this isn't the proper place to post, seemed most fitting.

Having a problem where Message Tracking on the Exchange server tells me a

message is delivered to the client but it is not being received by the user's

Outlook. This happens about once a week (that we know of) and there are no

clear indicators as to why it is not getting there. No rules are stopping it

or putting it in junk mail. Any ideas on what is causing it or how I can

track it down? Could it be an Outlook/OST issue?

Server is Exchange 2007, Outlook client is 2007, user mailbox size is about

8 GB. User also has a Blackberry device which receives mail via a local BPS

    server.

    I would look at:

    1. Cached mode. Does turning it off make the message appear? If so,

    you're having a synchronization problem.

    2. More than one client? Is a different client set to download messages to

    a PST?

    3. What is this Blackberry BPS? Do you mean BES? That's usually clean.

    4. Desktop-based synchronization software, like some have for Blackberry or

PDAs, which has been known to take stuff out of the mailbox.

    1. Turning on/off cached mode does not fix the problem.

    2. Only one client, no other client set to download emails.

    3. Blackberry Professional Server (BPS) is BES just with limited features,

    sorry for not explaining further.

    4. Only desktop software is Blackberry Desktop Manager but this isn't

redirecting/intercepting emails as that task is taken care of by BPS.

Still can't figure this one out, other ideas?

you've searched the mailbox with an Advanced Find, and searched the dumpster

    for one of these?

Yes I have searched the mailbox. Also there are no rules in Outlook or

Exchange (for this user) so it should only be in the Inbox, Junk Email, or

caught by our spam filter. None of these things happened and it seems it

    just vanished into thin air.

Problem has just expanded 5 minutes ago to another user but I need to

investigate that further before tying it to the same problem.

Yes I resolved the issue, sorry I didn't post back with results.

It appears the problem in this case was 2 fold:

    1. The user did set some rules in Outlook but lied to me and said there were

    none.

    2. I had a transport rule in Exchange that for this particular case resulted

in a loop and prevented the mail from being delivered.

Start by checking those two things and you will probably find your problem.
