I have disabled iCloud on my Windows 8 computer and deleted it it on the phone but no matter what I do the Outlook calendar doesn't show up on the phone. My other Windows 8 computer uses Outlook 2010 and I have never had this problem.

What type of email account do you use you? You either need to use Outlook.com or Exchange server mailbox to sync outlook to the phone - without those options, you need to use iCloud to provide the sync process.

I have finally accepted that I will have to wait for Apple to catch up. In the meantime, my contacts sync. I have printed out a calendar to keep with me which makes me remember the days before my first Palm Pilot..

The calendar should sync (it does here). The sync between the outlook calendar and iCloud doesn't always work, but if I create appt in the iCloud calendar, it syncs to the iCloud and the other devices.

Do events created on the iphone sync down to outlook? If not, signing out of the iCloud control panel and signing back in may fix it.

    Diane,

The calendar syncs don't work in either direction. I shut down iCloud because it just kept duplicating more and more of the same contacts.

Also the outlook calendar pop-up (the one that can be pinned to the email page) never shows anything.

I know that Outlook is designed for business use but this is the first one that has caused me problems. I have Outlook 2010 on my other computer and wish I had it for this one as well.

    Diane,

I saw on another thread that it is possible to buy Outlook 2010 stand alone. Would that be the way for me to go? Amazon has it and although it is pricey I would be happy to buy it to get out of this dilemma.

Do you have a CD for your other Office/Outlook? If its not an OEM installation, I'd try installing it on this computer and see if it works - you'll have 30 days trial. If it works, you can try activating it (most of the 2010 EULAs allow it on 2 computers - portable and desktop or more in line with today's usage, main computer and portable or less frequently used computer).

When you set iCloud up on the new computer, did you already have contacts in outlook 2013? In a case like this, adding a new computer to the cloud, you want to get the contacts and calendar from iCloud, not by copying a pst from the other computer.

Oh, and this is because the peek uses the default calendar. In older versions of outlook you can set the iCloud as default but its crashing outlook 2013 when iCloud is default. (I haven't checked with the latest version 2.1.2.)

    Diane,

I am using Outlook 2013 64 bit on Windows 7. I was successful in setting it up to sync Contacts, Calendar and Reminders/Tasks between outlook and my iPhone 4s. Yes, granted, they were not the default calendar, contacts or tasks, I had another set under the iCloud category.

I am not completely certain if it was the latest versions of iCloud or the MS updates I applied on my computer, but the synchronization does not work anymore.

It is quite cumbersome when the reminders I set up from home don’t appear when I am on the move or vice versa. Can you please point me in the right direction to resolve this issue?

    Thank you.

    Pradeep.

There seems to be a bug in the latest build of iCloud - I'm seeing more complaints about sync issues. The first thing to try is signing out of iCloud and sign back in. you'll be asked about creating a local copy of iCloud contacts and appointments, you can say no to that.

    Diane,

thank you for the suggestion. I did this and the data in calendar and tasks did sync up, but just once. Any further updates on either side did not get reflected on the other.

Incidentally, I had to visit the Apple store and posed the same question to the staff there. I was told this is a Microsoft issue they are not certain if MS is going to come out with a patch for it. Is there any truth to this?

    Thanks.

    Pradeep.

For everyone suffering by this incompatibility issue between Apple and Microsoft……………………..

I was reading up on the Microsoft support sites as well as corresponding ones on the Apple sites, but “Add-Ins” caught my eye.

    On Outlook

    - Go to File à Options and select Add-Ins
    - Look for “iCloud Outlook Add-in”
o If this is under the “Active Application Add-ins” section, then I am sorry you are screwed. (pardon)
o I found it under the “Disabled Application Add-ins” section. (user the scroll bar on the right to go down the list).
o Use the Manage button at the bottom to move the `iCloud’ Add-in to the `Inactive’ section and then to the `Active’ section.
    - Restart Outlook.
    - It syncs up faster than before.

    My environment:

    - Windows 7 64-bit
    - Outlook 2013
    - iTunes 12.0.1.26
    - iCloud window shows a (tiny) 4.0 on the top right of the window.

PS: There may be short-cuts to do the same activities listed above that some experts may know.

Hope this benefits some people out there. I’ll be back in this forum if this stops working for any reason.

    Pradeep.

Signing in and out sets up the iCloud and enables the addins. Then outlook disables the addin for some reason. The steps you used is the only way to enable it - if outlook keeps disabling it, there is a key you can set to force it to stay loaded.

I have restarted outlook several times after that and it seems to be holding up. I'll check again if it survives through a reboot of the computer.

Can you please send me the information on the key so that I can try it over the weekend if my fix did not hold up?

    Thank you.

    Pradeep.

I'll use this as the incentive to write it up - been meaning to do that for weeks but something keeps coming up.
